A core advantage of investing in the power of apprenticeships is bringing fresh ideas, qualities and skillsets to your business among both new and existing staff.
Vocational training unlocks the opportunity for colleagues to upskill in areas relevant to your industry and plug knowledge gaps to enable personal and professional growth.
A government survey of more than 4,000 employers found:
74% of employers say apprentices improved products or service quality
Plus, 78% of employers say apprentices improved productivity!
By training staff using funds available to businesses via the apprenticeship levy, organisations can fast-track the development of colleagues and invest in their futures in a cost-friendly, non-intrusive, way.
We explore how apprenticeships add new skillsets to teams in our sixth myth-busting article below.
Busting the myth!
We’ve established from our previous myth-busting articles that apprenticeships today serve a purpose to people of all ages and experience levels across all sectors.
It means apprenticeships delivered in their modern format are not exclusively designed to equip learners with basic, introductory, knowledge but can instead be tailored to suit an organisation’s requirements.
This prompts a more versatile workforce, motivated teams and better innovation. Some core benefits include:
- Apprentices can develop skills on latest industry trends and technologies, keeping your team’s knowledge and competence up to date.
- Skills gained are specific to your industry and can be applied into the real world.
- Training brings new perspectives and ideas into the workplace.
- Apprenticeships guarantee a structured pathway for career development with minimal effort required from the employer.
Practice what we preach!
For more than a decade, we at Ignite Training have invested in the power of apprenticeships ourselves.
In fact, our tutors are shining examples of how vocational training can be used to accelerate the skillsets, qualities and knowledge of colleagues.
Sam Biswell joined Ignite as a sports coach in September 2020 and has completed several vocational training programmes to fulfil his role today.
In fact, Sam is a familiar face to apprentices studying our Level 2 Community Activator Coach, Level 3 Teaching Assistant and Level 4 Sports Coach apprenticeships through his role as a tutor.
Progressing his career from apprentice to tutor has been possible thanks to the power of vocational training and Sam’s personal commitment to his own development, of course.
He said: “I’ve been an apprentice myself, so understand first-hand how they can help learners young and old bring new ideas and qualities to teams.
“Seeing learners develop month by month is extremely rewarding. Helping people to improve their knowledge and confidence is why I decided to become a tutor, and the benefits it brings to organisations.”
